Andrew Robertson

In my current role as CEO of AMS, I lead a global team in providing high-profile international clients with sustainable integrated solutions in some of the world’s most remote and challenging locations. Working with government, humanitarian and commercial sectors around the world, my 20-year journey from workshop to boardroom – and business success – has been achieved through sheer determination and hard work, anchored by unwavering cultural respect.

For over a decade I’ve had the opportunity to visit numerous countries, each of which has been faced with overwhelming challenges, from economic hardship, political uncertainty and years of devastating conflict, to the prospect of the obliteration of cultural heritage, civil liberties and, ultimately, hope for the future. I have been fortunate, and humbled, to meet people from different cultures, faiths, and backgrounds; to sit at the dinner table with them and interact with the families of those who have never had the opportunity to gain an education, or even provide for their children. I’ve seen their struggles, their pain, and a yearning to escape the vicious cycle of poverty. My lifelong passion for people, coupled with my own experiences over the years, fostered a desire to help those less fortunate.

I want to empower and develop communities to support them to become valuable self-sustaining contributors to the local economy, while also providing people with the necessary tools and opportunities to succeed in life. I strongly believe that each person deserves to be respected, to have dignity, and an opportunity to build a bright future – no matter their circumstance, race, or religion.

I am honoured to have played a part in ground-breaking initiatives, such as the Women’s Bakery in Afghanistan, which creates life-changing employment opportunities for women, and the Sports for Peace initiative in post-conflict countries. When I’m not travelling to crisis locations, my love and passion for people can be seen through the eyes of my children, who have my undivided attention when I’m home. On the rare occasion when both feet are on the ground in the UAE, you can find me on the football pitch or in the gym.
