Day two of YPO Innovation Week was a truly global affair, with concurrent multi-day events kicking off in London, England, UK, and Nairobi, Kenya, Africa. Thought-provoking panel discussions, immersive breakouts, inspiring keynote addresses, and meet and greets with some of the most disruptive business leaders across sectors are challenging what YPO members know about innovation.

Fintech’s beautiful disruption

No word better captures what fintech innovations have done to trading, banking, financial advice and products than “disruption.” For that reason, it comes as no surprise to learn that the third annual Global FinTech Summit in London, hosted by the YPO Financial Services Network welcomed a sold out crowd.

Members and spouses/partners heard from experts and renowned speakers about cryptocurrencies, blockchain, artificial intelligence and machine learning, cybersecurity, global payments, and insurance and banking disruption.

EY Global Head of FinTech Index Funds Imran Gulamhuseinwala introduced to attendees the findings of the FinTech Adoption Index — a survey of more than 22,000 digitally active consumers highlighting the rapid growth of fintech adoption. The talk illuminated the variations between different mature and developing markets using a “one market, one vote” approach to provide a global, cross-market perspective on themes and trends.

Fintech topics being covered during the event include delving into the latest trends in the fintech space, in particular cryptocurrencies, currency exchanges, ICOs (initial coin offerings) and blockchain and its regulations; cutting-edge AI and machine learning developments that are transforming insurance and banking, including the new open banking and global digital privacy regulations;  how Brexit is affecting the fintech outlook in the United Kingdom and Europe; and prognostications about the future of blockchain and cryptocurrencies.
